Healthy spirit Mahija
Challenges
Waste collection and sorting activities expose informal workers to various health risks. However, access to basic health services, preventive information, and consistent occupational safety practices still need to be strengthened in many communities.
Limitations in routine health checks, uneven use of personal protective equipment, and low access to health information mean that some health conditions may be detected too late.
Through a community-based approach, Mahija seeks to expand access to basic health services while strengthening awareness of clean, healthy, and safe living among waste workers and their families.
