About the Program
The cost of education remains one of the main obstacles preventing children of waste workers from continuing their education. Yet many of them are highly motivated to learn and have strong academic potential.
Through its Education Scholarship Program, Mahija provides financial support for the education of children from families of waste workers—including scavengers within Mahija’s community—who have a strong desire to learn but face financial constraints. This program is designed to help them stay in the formal education system while opening up opportunities for a better future.
In addition to providing financial assistance, Mahija also conducts regular monitoring to ensure that the scholarships truly support the beneficiaries’ development. This approach helps ensure the continuity of their education while fostering their motivation to learn and boosting their self-confidence.
