"We recognize that recycling heroes have an important role to play in creating a circular economy, especially in accelerating the increase of post-consumption PET recycling rates. Despite their importance, many do not have access to healthcare. Therefore, we are committed to helping them by providing social, economic and educational support to improve their welfare and that of their surrounding communities," said Suharji Gasali, Vice Chairman of Mahija Parahita Nusantara Foundation.

In addition to conducting free health checks, Mahija Parahita Nusantara also provides food packages, education and mental health services. This year, Semangat Sehat Mahija collaborated with Doctor Share to provide general medical services to patients, Hati Plong to provide psychological consultations, and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia who supported in providing beverage products during the activity.

As a Non-Profit Foundation, Mahija Parahita Nusantara is committed to playing an active role in creating a circular economy through the collection of post-consumption PET bottles, as well as strengthening the community network of recycling heroes both in terms of business and access to basic services such as health and education. The foundation was established through a joint initiative of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia (CCEP Indonesia) and Dynapack Asia.

Suharji further explained "Mahija has three main program pillars, namely responsible waste collection, support for educational facilities, and socio-economic improvement of communities around the location of Mahija collection points. We hope to be part of the sustainability of the environment in Indonesia and simultaneously support the waste collection community to be independent and have a better standard of living."

The existence of Mahija Parahita Nusantara is in line with the government's target in waste management and reduction in Indonesia, in accordance with the National Strategic Policy of Presidential Regulation No. 97 of 2017, namely 70% waste management and 30% waste reduction by 2025. For this reason, the development of a post-consumption PET bottle collection network is an important step to ensure the supply of ethical recycled raw materials at a fair price.

To date, Mahija Parahita Nusantara has 27 active collection points and 1,773 collection partners, and has supported 35,460 recycling heroes and targets to add 8 more waste collection points by 2024. Mahija also opens a partnership program to support communities around Mahija collection points that are in line with Mahija's programs.
