Empowering Youth for Waste Awareness: A Special Earth Day Event

To enliven the Earth Day commemoration, Mahija Parahita Nusantara participated as a speaker at an event organized by Green Action of the United Tractors Youth Movement to share insights about the environment.

Held at SMK Dinamika Pembangunan 2 Jakarta (Dinamika Pembangunan 2 Vocational High School), the Mahija Team delivered an educational session on the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and sustainable waste management. Mahija believes that environmental care actions can be driven by young people who are concerned and want to contribute.

Not only that, together with Ibu Nuriyah, a waste picker who has made a significant contribution to the recycling ecosystem, we also invited the students to practice sorting waste directly. This activity was part of Mahija’s public education pillar, which introduces the many future opportunities presented by waste—from environmental and social perspectives, and even in terms of employment.

A similar Earth Day event was also held at PG-TK Permata Insani Islamic School. Mahija was a speaker alongside the leader of one of our Collection Centers, Bpk. Martin from PT Berkah Mulia Perdana Sukses. Mahija engaged the young children in learning how to sort waste and took part in environmental protection activities.

In addition to learning and interacting in sessions themed “I Love Earth” and “Creative Recycling: Turning Waste into Valuable Items,” Mahija also presented its Mahija Mobile School unit. The children had fun with activities ranging from coloring and drawing to listening to stories and engaging in educational games together.
