Socialization from Mahija to Create Real Impact

During June 2025, Mahija again mobilized real action on the ground through two educational activities to increase public awareness and understanding of waste management, especially the role of waste banks in supporting the circular economy.

Collaboration with Bank Sampah Barokah Bogor City

The first activity took place in Bogor City with members of the Indonesian Waste Bank Association (ASOBSI) DPD Bogor City. 

On this occasion, we opened a strategic partnership with Bank Sampah Barokah. The main focus of this collaboration is to encourage the collection of high-value PET plastic bottles, as well as strengthen the circular economy approach in the Bogor area. 

One of the series of activities was a discussion with the Indonesian Waste Bank Association (ASOBSI) DPD Bogor City. The Chairperson of the Mahija Parahita Nusantara Foundation Management Board, Ardhina Zaiza, was also present as a speaker, and had the opportunity to discuss directly about the various challenges faced by waste bank managers. 

This discussion opened up space for Mahija to design more targeted sustainable support for the waste bank ecosystem, so that they can continue to operate independently, effectively and with impact.

This moment was also Mahija's first collection of disposable PET bottles from Bank Sampah Barokah, with a total of plastic bottles collected reaching the weight of 400 kilograms. Going forward, we will continue to pick up PET bottle waste along with colored bottle waste, as well as plastic labels and bags. This step is Mahija's commitment to encourage responsible procurement of post-consumption PET bottles, as well as an effort to improve the welfare of waste workers in the recycling supply chain. 

Socialization of Fishermen Families in Coastal Tangerang

From Bogor, Mahija continued the education movement to the coastal area of Pakuhaji, Tangerang, in a series of events DOKUBATA, which was proposed by one of the campuses in Tangerang. Through collaboration with one of the collection centers, Berkah Mitra Perdana Sukses, Mahija educated residents about the importance of sorting waste from home and recognizing the economic value of recyclable PET plastic bottles.

With a light and easy-to-understand approach, Mahija invites residents to build a habit of sorting plastic bottles and depositing them in the waste bank, and recording the weighing results in a savings book. This process introduces the concept of waste savings to the community, especially for housewives.

Not only that, Mahija also presents Mahija Mobile Schoolwhich provides opportunities for children living around the area to play while learning, such as counting and coloring, while mothers attend waste management education sessions.

This socialization activity is not just a one-time program, but part of Mahija's long-term movement to create real impact. real impact. With targeted public education, Mahija hopes that more and more parties will be aware, care, and participate in building an equitable and sustainable recycling ecosystem.
