Every October, Indonesia celebrates Financial Inclusion Month where this moment ensures that every level of society has access and understanding of financial services. This year, Mahija collaborated with the People of Purpose program of program of Bank DBS Indonesia program to provide financial education activities for more than 100 recycling warriors in four community areas under Mahija's guidance, namely Duren Sawit, Jurang Mangu, Bintara, and Tanah Tinggi.
At the forefront of the recycling chain, recycling champions play an important role in protecting the environment. However, many of them have not had the opportunity to understand how to manage their finances effectively.

Through this education session, Mahija together with Bank DBS Indonesia volunteers shared basic knowledge about money management, starting from simple ways to separate money for daily needs and small savings, record income and expenses practically, how to borrow money at a trusted bank and explain how important it is to have an emergency fund for urgent needs. All explained in a way that is easy to understand and relevant to their daily lives.
Interestingly, this education received enthusiasm from the participants. Many of them began to realize the importance of saving, and even started setting aside a small portion of their daily income in a simple piggy bank distributed by the volunteers.

Not only that, we also involve children of recycling warrior families in a special financial literacy session.

Through creative activities, children are invited to understand what money means, why they should use it well and the importance of saving. Here they are also taught how to make piggy banks from used plastic bottles, a small step that teaches valuable meaning about saving and recycling at the same time.
For Mahija and Bank DBS Indonesia, this activity is not just a commemoration of Financial Inclusion Month, but a tangible manifestation of our commitment to encourage financial independence and social sustainability for Indonesian recycling warriors.
This simple financial education is the start of a big change. With a better understanding of money management, it is hoped that recycling warriors and their families can begin to have a good understanding and habits in managing finances. Along with this effort, Mahija also provides other important tools for a safer and more prosperous daily life and future of recycling fighters, such as training in health literacy, nutrition, and work safety.
