As a continuation of its ongoing commitment in empowering waste workers or recycling champions, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia (CCEP Indonesia) once again collaborated with Foundation Mahija Parahita Nusantara (Mahija) Foundation. This year, the collaboration is focused on improving the welfare of waste workers, especially waste pickers, through sustainable capacity and skills development.
Through two main initiatives, maggot breeding through the program "Empowered Together" program program and water hyacinth handicrafts through "Empowered Mothers"program, CCEP Indonesia and Mahija endeavor to foster a spirit of self-reliance and open up economic opportunities to over 200 waste workers in 6 community areas in the Greater Jakarta area.
CCEP Indonesia sees these two activities as more than just a welfare program to increase income, but also an effort to instill a sense of independence and increase the dignity of waste workers.
With these new skills, waste workers can begin to transform into environmental entrepreneursindividuals who play an active role in keeping cities clean, creating added value from waste, while strengthening the circular economy at the community level.
Empowering Together Program
Program Empowered Together is designed to establish a sustainable organic waste management system through the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots. This initiative not only contributes to the reduction of organic waste, but also helps improve the welfare of the waste picker community by converting organic waste into an economically valuable resource.
As many as 20 waste pickers participated in this training, learning first-hand how maggot cultivation can be a double solution, cleaning the environment while opening up opportunities to increase their income. Through this activity, it is targeted that they will earn an additional income of Rp. 300,000 per month.

This activity began with socialization in September 2025 and received support from various parties, including; Ali Yudo KisdiyantoHead of the Community Participation Section of the East Jakarta Environmental Agency, Sanudi, Administrative Civil Servant of LH Satpel of Duren Sawit Sub-district, Nurlis Kumala Sari, Field Supervisor of Klender Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-district and Munzir, Head of RW 10 Klender Urban Village

This support from various parties is a tangible manifestation of cross-sector collaboration in encouraging a more inclusive and sustainable waste management system.
Empowered Mother Program
Along with the implementation of Berdaya Bersama, CCEP Indonesia and Mahija also initiated the Empowered Mothers programprogram, which focuses on training water hyacinth processing skills into handicrafts with economic value.
The rapid growth of water hyacinth in Indonesian waters often causes environmental problems such as sedimentation and decreased water quality. But behind that, there is great potential, where this material can be processed into environmentally friendly products that are in demand by the market.

Through this program, as many as 180 women waste workers who often face economic challenges and limited access to training are invited to see the new potential of materials that have been considered weeds. The program not only opened up new insights into the economic potential of natural waste, but also provided a real target: 40% of participants were expected to earn an additional income of around Rp150,000 per month through the crafts they produced.

In the inaugural socialization session, they were introduced to various water hyacinth processing techniques and the potential to develop it into an additional source of income. With these new skills, the women waste workers are expected to become more empowered and independent in supporting their families' economy.
Through these two programs, CCEP Indonesia and Mahija want to invite waste workers to see that economic potential and environmental preservation can go hand in hand. economic potential and environmental preservation can go hand in hand, to build an inclusive and sustainable circular economy.to build an inclusive and sustainable circular economy.
