In celebration of International Literacy Day, Yayasan Mahija Parahita Nusantara has received a donation of 2.613 books from Mentari Group, one of Indonesia’s leading education service providers known for its integrated solutions in education and contribution to human resource development.
The books were officially handed over by Bunga Mega, Head of Marketing Communications at Mentari Group, to Ardhina Zaiza, Chairperson of Yayasan Mahija Parahita Nusantara, at one of Mahija’s Collection Partners in South Tangerang.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to broaden literacy access for children, especially those from waste picker families. The donated books, ranging from early learning materials for kindergarten, primary school textbooks, to storybooks, will be distributed across seven waste worker community areas, including Mahija Alternative School and various destinations of the Mahija Mobile School.
Ardhina Zaiza emphasized the importance of this support for Mahija’s communities. “At Mahija, we are committed to supporting waste workers and their families, especially through education. Mentari Group’s book donation is a meaningful contribution to fostering a reading culture while offering new hope for children from waste picker families. We are deeply grateful for this collaboration, which strengthens literacy across our ecosystem,” said Ardhina
Bunga Mega also shared that the initiative is closely aligned with Mentari Group’s mission. “We believe education is the foundation for building the future of our nation. Through this collaboration with Mahija, Mentari Group is committed to expanding children’s access to literacy, whether through the Mahija Alternative School or initiatives like the Mahija Mobile School. We hope this support will be part of the long journey that helps children grow with knowledge, confidence, and hope,” said Bunga.
More than just a book donation, the collaboration between Mentari Group and Yayasan Mahija Parahita Nusantara represents a meaningful step toward social transformation through literacy, opening the door to inclusive education and empowering the next generation.
